The desire to achieve certain goal-oriented tasks has always been an important part of WoW. But it was impossible for players to quantify their accomplishments with the exception of a handful of niche websites, like this one. So in 2008, the developers implemented an achievement system, complete with thousands of goals, covering everything from world exploration to pet collecting. So if you're a pet collector with an itch to achieve every companion-related achievement, look no further!

August 2009: Added the new achievement for obtaining Grunty the Murloc Marine.

Basic Pet Collecting Achievements

The following achievements are earned through basic pet collecting efforts.

Can I Keep Him? Obtain a companion pet. Requires: Obtain a companion pet Type:  General

Plenty of Pets Collect 15 unique companion pets. Requires: Obtain 15 companion pets Type:  General

Plethora of Pets Collect 25 unique companion pets. Requires: Obtain 25 companion pets Type:  General

Pet Rewarding Achievements

The achievements here actually reward the achiever with a vanity pet.

	Shop Smart, Shop Pet...Smart Collect 50 unique companion pets. Requires: Obtain 50 companion pets Reward: [Reeking Pet Carrier] (sent via an in-game mail) Type:  General

	Lil' Game Hunter Collect 75 unique companion pets. Requires: Obtain 75 companion pets Reward: [Little Fawn's Salt Lick] (sent via an in-game mail) Type:  General

The following achievements are awarded for collecting pets that are still available during vairous world events.

Love is in the Air:

Children's Week:

	Aw, Isn't It Cute? Obtain one of the Children's Week reward pets. Requires — 1 of 6: Egbert Mr. Wiggles Peanut Speedy Whiskers the Rat Willy Type:  World Event - Children's Week

	Veteran Nanny Acquire Egbert's Egg, Sleepy Willy, and Elekk Training Collar on one character. Requires: Egbert Willy Peanut Type:  World Event - Children's Week

Hallow's End:

	Sinister Calling Obtain a Sinister Squashling pet and Hallowed Helm. Requires: Sinister Squashling [Hallowed Helm] Type:  World Event - Hallow's End

Brewfest:

	Does Your Wolpertinger Linger? Obtain a Wolpertinger pet. Requires Wolpertinger Type:  World Event - Brewfest

Profession-Based Pet Achievements

Pets in this category are earned through various professions and secondary skills.

Many achievements are granted for owning specific small pets that are either no longer avaialable or pets that were obtained via a special promotion.
