To collect this pet, players must first obtain the Spring Cleaning buff, allowing them to see the Dust Bunny spawns.
The buff lasts for 15 minutes. Once the buff wears off, the bunnies will despawn.
Interacting with a special rug in Dalaran grants the buff. However the rug can spawn in various shops at unknown times, adding an element of randomness to collecting this pet. A few known locations of this interactable rug include:

I play on an Alliance-heavy server, so the carpet is ALWAYS up in the Horde section of Dalaran. One trick I just tried - and it worked! - was create a Horde class-trial lvl 100 toon on my server. After a few scenarios, I was ported to Dala, and presto! I walk into the Windrunner's Sanctuary, and the carpet is all mine! :)
Another tip: One of the dust bunny spawn points is outside Dalaran's walls. Go to Krasus' landing, and there's a broken section of the wall where you can cross.
What are people's best teams to use for these guys? I saw two different people kill their bunnies by accident last night and don't want to do the same. :( This little guy look sooo cute!Â
EDIT: Took my chances when I saw the rug and used my Gilnean crow, got a rare S/S on the second bunny with no problems! All others I found were also S/S until about 2 min left on the buff when I found a poor P/S so I caught it, figuring to bump it up with a stone. Fun little game! :)
Looked for the carpet, couldn't find, hopped server joining a margoss farm group, didn't find it again, so I left the group and searched once more... and there it was, in the pet shop, behind the counter. Got my s/s bunny in less than 2 minutes, and decided to let others know it had spawned, but when I came back it wasn't there anymore. Spooky carpet.
I found the following breeds: S/S, S/B, and P/S.
It's really easy to realm hop to find this one, just look for fishing groups farming drowned mana!

Be sure to look on the grassy area that borders Dalaran as well; I've seen a few spawn there. To access it, just go to where the pet world quest is and run around the city.
A nice pet to catch these with is the Molten Corgi with the Superbark ability. Strong against Critter, but like the Terrible Turnip, it doesn't kill the pet, so you can safely catch without worry.
For the past couple of weeks, I've been stopping by the barber shop to check for the rug whenever I run by. Â Today it was there, so I caught two bunnies, one poor and one common. Â P/S and S/S, respectively. Â I only saw poor/common quality bunnies hopping about, but I did see all three breeds. Â Edited to add: Â I used the Terrible Turnip to catch the bunnies without accidently killing them.
Got mine today. The rug appeared in Breanni's as a large round goldish colored on the floor and behind the desk. My cursor turned into a gold gear wheel as soon as i walked into the door of the shop. This shop is also known as the Magical Menagerie.
just got mine, but i found the rug in the horde only area, covering the large metal grate next to the inn (64.7/37.8) so maybe keep looking all over people, it is there. i was lucky and got a blue on the first bunny.
After you get the debuf you can found a dozen all over dalaran.

LOL, so that's what that rug was for. I just clicked it because it was clickable, and then saw bunnies I didn't have yet. cool!
I got unfathomably lucky - I found a rug on my first attempt hunting this guy. It was in the Horde area and my main is Alliance, so I did a class trial of a Horde toon. Ported to Azsuna from the Org portal room, flew to Dalaran, got the rug, and ran around getting three of these guys! This was at 4pm server on Draenor (US-Pacific) on a Sunday, so nobody was really around, made grabbing the rug super easy.
I have been hunting this pet for a few years; now with multiple ports to Dalaran I have found the the rugs were only spawning in Broken Isles Dalaran. I wasted so much time in the wrong Dalaran. Don't be me. Once I realized my mistake, I was able to find the rug on multiple toons and got 2 rare quality and 1 green quality. Good Luck.
So, this pet is very elusive. The rug is even more elusive. Here a helpful tip:
- Don't camp out. There are two spots the rug will pop up for both factions. Inside the barber shop and inside the pet shop. For the Horde, it will pop up on the grate next to our inn. Check back whenever you are in Dalaran (Broken Isles). But don't camp out. It's not worth it. The rug is very random.

I read the comments here, and found the rug on top of the big round metal grate outside the Horde Inn, behind the Scourge Machine thingy. Immediately caught 2 nice Uncommons. Trained them and was impressed with their ability. Thanks to all for the helpful comments! I come here first for your comments to help me in my quest for pets.

After picking up my first dust bunny, and putting him through some battles and a level, I had to go back again and catch 2 more. Could only find one SS in that 25 mins. So I guess I'll be going back, yet again for that elusive third. I'll try to get one with a bit more power this time.
After having the darkmoon rabbit despawn on the raid I was, I went to Dalaran to go look for carpets.
At least I got the other elusive bunny today :)got a blue one today first off the rank too! \ 0 /
