Can commonly be found on the beaches of Darkshore.

Hunts for food just below the water's surface on the coast of Darkshore.
A good way to find these little buggers is to battle level 5+ Darkshore Cubs. The Snails are often included as secondaries in these battles.
@ Gawd: Only the H/H breed has that much health, and based on the info you gave, you have the H/P variant.
Fortunately, you're probably better off with that anyway. H/P has less health, but its Absorb will heal for more, its Shell Shield will stop more damage, and, of course, it'll hit harder overall.
Having the H/P breed probably makes this guy better than the Rapana Whelk, albeit requiring more of a time investment.
Breed 7 (H/P) of this one is the best snail you can get in game, and as snails in general are extremely useful, you want to have it :)

•Alongside Scooter, this snail has the best of both snail worlds that really matter. Even when it comes to P, a snail will not be a big hitter. It's all about their H, and at 1969, its among the top 10 of most healthful pets. Coupled with Shell Shield and Dive, its longevity during battled is significantly increased.
You need to go to the past to get one of these little dudes now. If you're in current time line, you just get hermit crabs spawning.Â
Very interesting occurence I thought I'd share, discovered while I was looking to tame one of these;  if two opposing pets have an underground avoid and use it at the same time (ie, the Water Snake's  "Burrow"...and the Shimmershell's  "Dive"), the combat round will continue as if nothing happened!
My snake burrowed, the snail dove, and the snake moved in for a normal attack! Could come in handy...and it makes me wonder if the airborne versions are the same!
Only snail with a P breed of any kind, and its HP to be exact. This will be good against the whispering spirit.
These little guys are absolute killers for elementals with only elemental attacks
Thank you to Devlan on the advice to battle the Darkshore Cubs for the chance to get a rare as a secondary.  I had flown the entire shore and only seen a few snails and neither of them were any good.  After only challenging 3 bears, one of them brought his rare snail friend along! Â
They do exist! I found one as a secondary pet to a hermit, after abour 20 mins of battles
Be sure you go on a new character or go back in time. You may also need to kill the level 1 critters (non battle pet) for battle pets to spawn.Â
On one pass I managed to catch 3 rare snails (Two H/P and one B/B, levels 3-6) in about 15 minutes. I didn't see many H/H, and regret releasing my Uncommon H/H to catch the third rare (I thought it was an H/H but it turned out to be H/P). So these seem to be plentiful and easy to find rares...
So I have an HP shimmershell, yet when I scroll through the possible breeds, it's only showing HH and BB. Same sort of thing is happening with the Rapana Whelk, and several other snails. Anyone know what the deal with that is?
@Kestrelon they are. Pets during Lift-Off or Proto-Strike can be reached by opponent performing the same. Of course a pet suspended in the skies won't reach the one hidden underground and the other way around. (Forgive a cheap rhyme!)
Even if you don't battle a lot, for the unique numbers themselves you'd keep an H/P one. Leave the H/H stats to Scooter the Snail.
Just takes patience on this one! Got mine around 44.0 , 19.0 after about 3-4 hours of pet battling up and down the Darkshore coast. I came across a level 3 rare blue finally.
Found lvl 3 B/B rare at 38, 33 after reading comments and logging out and logging back in after spending hours doing sweeps top to bottom. I think this middle area is key.
Caught a level 4 rare by itself at 38.08, 48.48
H/H does exist. JUst got it "rare" quality after several days of trying directly with snails and as a secondary to Darkshore Cub. Have failth.
At lvl 25 my rare blue is only 1790...Not the 1900. Any ideas how they get that high?
After a few battles, I found a rare as a secondary to another shimmershell snail. It was a level 6, so looks like that is the lucky number. I found it along the shore next to Remtravel's Excavation site. =D
