Prior to The Shattering, this whelpling dropped from the Red Whelp, Flamesnorting Whelp, and Crimson Whelp. These creatures have since been removed.
As of Patch 4.0.3, the Tiny Crimson Whelpling is now a zone drop from the Wetlands.

Hailing from the Wetlands, this young dragon is just learning how to hunt, breathe fire, and go on cute destructive rampages.
The farm path is large, but it's not too tedious for anyone of decent level to handle them. Stop by the cave to the east for the Razormaw Matriarch spawn as well!
Best spot to farm is at 67.22, 47.14 (if your not after the dark whelping as well). Slavehunters and whelpstealers come to YOU here and respawn VERY quickly.
12K kills and 11 hours of farming and dealing with toolbags that want to hog the entire area of adds for themselves. Forget it, bought it off the auction house.
After feeling completely cursed by the RNG gods.. it finally dropped. 11hrs later.. 23,124 loots and the loss of my sanity is what it took. Bring bag space, a vendor mount, some good music and ALOT of patience! 67,47 at the Green Belt in Wetlands, running between the 3 mobs with the extra wide arcane explosion as a 90 mage is the way to go for maximum respawns. Good luck with the hunt to all. May you not have to work as hard as i did lol :D
Finally had one drop for me after thousands of kills, SO HAPPY. I highly recommend getting the spot around 67,47 (I think thats it, where the orcs and dragonkin are fighting). The spawn rate is brilliant there, aoe them down and auto loot. There are two small groups on either side of them, I found that if I ran up and quickly got those, the pack in the middle spawned faster and with more of them in one hit. I got into a cycle of left pack, middle, right pack, middle, etc. Good luck!
Go to the wetlands. If you go over to the area that leads to the giant gates which leads to Grim Batol, you will see several broken down wagons. There is 3 groups of battles, 1-2 dragonkin and 2-3 dragonmaw orcs fighting. If you kill the mobs who are fighting, they will respawn within seconds of their death, giving you tons to loot!
This is your daily reminder to check the Auction House for any pet you think is incredibly rare -- I just found a fully leveled Crimson Whelpling on the AH for 15k. Insane.
Woohoo! Someone had one of these on Burning Legion AH for 600gold! Considered reselling, but keeping it instead!
Found this little guy 10-09-2016 in Wetlands 56.5, 73.0 drop from the very first Silty Oozeling I shot down while on the "A Dumpy Job" quest.
Took me 15,107 attempts but i finally got it, i was starting to think it would never drop! 67,47 is definetly the best place to farm it! Good Luck everyone, and dont give up!!
Still plugging away at this little darling. Keeping my fingers crossed. According to rarity I am only at abouy 650 tries.I am starting to feel sorry for all the bodies I am leaving behind. Almost want to start a new alt with skinning.
Update: at 1700+ and I did infact start a skinning DK to clean up all the poor little bodies.
Woot!! Finally after 8892 attempts and 12:45:17 spent farming I finally got this little guy!!
I'm on 6735 kills and no drop. :( ughhhhh
I farmed for him in the wetlands by greenwarden 's grove if exit go left there ate ebon whelps I just ran Iin that circle I got both dark and crimson whelps got dark whelp in 70 kills and the crimson in 500 total kills for both of them . I just kept in that little area
Got mine after about 3-4 hours of farming at 67,47 in Wetlands. Thanks for the coords posted in this forum. I was bidding on this little guy earlier for 1000g and got outbid, then it got relisted for 4000g, so I went out to see if I could get him myself.
After I got him, I was so excited I wanted to see how far my luck could run, so I started farming Emerald Whelpling and I boom, I got 2 in back to back kills! #Awesome
finaly after 12688 loot finaly got it and filled the guild bank full of cloth!! :)
Currently leveling this little guy right now... totally worth the 8k gold I spent on it. The self-heal is magnificent and this pet deals a fairly nice amount of damage.
finally...just got this little guy, 1200 kills later over 2 days of doing nothing else...thank you to whoever said to kill at 67.47 it worked :) last whelpling i needed. good luck.
