Patch 4.2.0 | Posted: June 28, 2011

This pet is rewarded via the mail when your character completes the "Littlest Pet Shop" achievement. To complete this achievement, your character must possess at least 150 unique vanity pets. Upon learning your 150th pet, you'll immediately receive this pet in your mailbox, sent by Dalaran's vendor, Breanni.

Note that the Celestial Dragon only has an idle animation while on the ground. When it is flying alongside players on flying mounts, it will not use its special animation.

I finally completed the Littlest Pet Shop achievement yesterday (after getting Pebble as my 150th pet), but the Celestial Dragon didn't arrive via the mail. After waiting a day for a message from Breanni, I checked my pet collection & the dragon was already there. So they've apparently changed the distribution method in patch 5.0.4 & no longer use the mail.

I still have no idea why this pet is so popular.  This is one of the least impressive dragons available.  The Ancient Blessing heal available in the second slot is not as good as Cauterize, Tranquility or Emerald Dream.  If you don't want to take the heal, you are then left with conflicting weather options with Arcane Storm to Moonfire/Starfall.  The slot 1 basic attacks aren't even buffed by the weather. If there is a worse dragon in game, please show me.

As a hunter, I love to bring this baby out, give him a Pet Biscuit, and use my blue Wind Serpent pet because they look so similar. The one is Jimmy and the other is Billy Lee. They're my Double Dragons!

This pet really does go so well with the Celestial Steed. I feel very stylish on it with my druid reg t11 and Starcaller title!

This pet is so different and fairly unique in skin, skeleton and style that I think its a very great choice for a 150 pet acheiv.

Since Breath has been replaced with Flamethrower my rating for this pet has gone down. While still tanky, I have to go elsewhere for a Dragonkin damage spell which has ruined my trainer setup.

In my opinion, this is one of the best battle pets available. As many others have said, it's great for leveling lower pets. It's also able to solo most of the NPC tamers that can be challenged daily - including some of the Pandarian ones, such as the Whispering spirit. Personally, it's a core member of my group of battle pets, rarely exchanged for anything else because of its usefulness.

I use this pet to help level other pets, and now that it has Starfall it does the bulk of the battling to capture pets as well (Moonfire would occationally oneshot a pet while Starfall does pinprick damage).

Fear not Starfall: if you capture a pet and then accidentally kill it with Starfall, you will still get the pet.  Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to release the poor beetle I made the test on...

Don't know if it's the best of the pets nut it's definitely one of the best. I've been taking down trios of 25s in Pandaria with her solo at level 21. An excellent battler.

I cycle Moonfire, Breath, Ancient Blessing, Breath - repeat until they crumble. She makes it too simple.

While I initially played with it for its sheer rarity, this little dragon is actually on my core team of battle pets. It's more of a tank than anything, but a regenerating tank that's only weak against undeads and humanoids is useful in the wild, and Moonlight gives a nice synergy with any pets that do magic damage or heal themselves.

My favorite pet (that I own) by far! It takes a true collector to get him, so I find him much more prestigious than many other pets.

A fun little pet that zooms around as though it was hyper-caffeinated. One that I'm looking forward to showing off in groups.

Kinda of reminds me of the Spirit of Competition from a few years back except it is light blueish, but I do like how he zips around when your standing still and follows you while flying!

Don't switch abilities. Ever. First three are the best. Moonfire, Dragonbreath, Ancient Blessing.

For PvE Battles, this will leave most enemies at half health while you're nearly full.

For PvP, your milage may vary. A smart opponent will open with Mechanical or Humanoid if they have it, or weather changer of their own to counter the Moonfire/Blessing combo.

I also duo it with lvl 4-20 leveling pets. I can easily start with low pet rotate out, then finish all 3 level 24-25 pets with it and just keep going. Not uber elite in PVP battles, nothing special, but VERY dependable in wild pet battles.

Someone said this on Wowhead and it worked for me - Celestial Dragon can solo Bristlespine in Stormsong Valley. Start off with Flamethrower, then Moonfire for damage/bonus to healing, then Ancient Blessing to heal. Continue with Flamethrower until cooldowns are over, then rinse and repeat.

Probably one of my favorites looks wise, plus it can self heal in battle! Super fun to battle with casually! My favorite thing is to pair it with another healer so the moonfire can increase healing.
