The Crimsonwing Moth has a unique spawning mechanic. It has multiple spawn points, yet only a single spawn will appear in Talador at any given time. There will always be one spawn available, though.
Once the Crimsonwing Moth has been captured or defeated, a new one will immediately pop up in the zone. It can appear at the same location in which it was captured, or it can respawn elsewhere.

I've tried everything on my Realm (Moonglade) to find this elusive moth. Flight points, Spawn points on a map, Macro's, screaming at the computer and screaming at my husband.(You'd think that would work but no!!)
We're going to search around again today for it.
Wish I had a high level Alt on a different realm....Â
Like all rare pets this pet is only primary and will never show up as a secondary pet while battling other pets. This is a very easy pet to catch and you can easily catch it by simply finding a spot within short range of 3 spawn points then server hopping then checking the three locations over and over. I found maybe 20 of these ones looking for a P/S breed. Took less than 20 minutes for me to aquire 3 Crimsonwing Moths and 3 Sappire Fireflys. It only took me a little longer to catch a P/S moth.
Have quite a few moths in my collection, and this one is my favorite color variation. Â Collecting a rare P/S version is a bit tricky since there's only just 1 Crimsonwing Moth in Talador at a time, and it can be found anywhere in the zone. Â Well worth the time and effort in getting it so keep trying until you do get one.

I had suspected from capturing the Sapphire Firefly that the moth too would be within easy reach of the roads, ensuring at least a modicum of safety and convenience for pet hunters. Â The theory seems to prove out.
OMGosh!! I found it at 75,18 near Fort Wrynn - to the east of the little lake. I got 2!!! Both rares!!! One B/B and one P/S. All I used was /target Crimsonwing Moth while flying around and there it was. Was shocked it appeared twice at the same spot, one after the other and both were rare. /happydance
Just capped my Crimsonwing Moth. Took approx 15 mins of patrolling

This pet is identical to Dusty Sporewing, Skywisp Moth, and Cerulean Moth. All 4 pets have identical movesets and come in the same 3 breeds with identical stats. The only difference between them is cosmetic. You could have one of each as a different breed, but two will be the same breed. Even the fastest breeds are slow at 289 after the racial passive has worn off. Reckless Strike is nice especially if you can anticipate not getting hit on the next round.
Got lucky with this guy, was just running around leveing my lowbie pets during the pet battle week, and came across this guy. Was poor quality, but a few battles previous I got a Flawless Flying stone, so BOOM, upgraded to Rare quality.
Got lucky with the Sapphire Firefly the other day while leveling pets too. Glad I got these two finally.
Does this have its own spawn, or can it show up as secondary pets?
Found @ 70.64-53.68 Talador. Found a good way to check multiple places is to look into Premade Groups and take a look around in Custom, then look for someone with the realm hop tag. Sign up and Bob's your uncle, hope this helps and happy hunting!
Found @ 51.31. Got lucky, first moth i found was the blue p/s.
Oh hey, I didn't realize this was a rare spawn and I just spotted him. Â Realized I didnt have one so I captured it. Â Awesome! Â I'm very happy that I didn't realize this was a new pet before hand and then spent hours looking for it.

Has anyone found this as anything other than the primary (the pet that shows up when searching). I ask because the 'Location' tab says it is an added pet in battles. If it is not then it needs to be updated.
As it turns out I found one at 60.4 13.9 so add that to your search co-ords if you are looking. It was primary, as Gabriel27 said. Mine was P/S (Common), first up so luck was in favor this time.
I found mine just a little north of the Shattarath City flightpath, at a spot that I don't think has been listed as a spawn point yet. Like others have said, using a targeting macro helps.
Found mine at 51 30, between the docks and southern coast of Orunai Coastland, on a little piece of land. These spawn where ever there might be a Royal Moth spawning. I created a macro and had pet trackker on (thank you for the advice)Spawn points are only useful if you use them to find the Royals.
Found at 39, 91 , bottom south-west corner of map
I found mine in the bonus objective area called Zorkra's Fall. He was just flying to the left of the pathway walking into the bonus area. 3:40pm server.
