Creating Imperial Silk using 8 Bolts of Windwool Cloth will yield a Silkworm Cocoon, which has a chance of dropping an Imperial Moth.
Tailors may only create Imperial Silk while in the Silken Fields in the Valley of the Four Winds.

The larval form of this moth is world-renowned for creating the finest silk in Azeroth.
i was wondering if you still need to be at the silken fields in forwinds in order to get the pet, i have been making the cacoon for about a month everyday and still no pet, but have been doing it in stormwind .
Unique moveset, only moth able to use cyclone and moth balls simultaneously.
Paired with +hit buff could give interesting results.
The horn on this little guy's head... Oh my. Super cute!
have yet to make it but apparently it is along the lines of JC and Eng pets that have a rare name in AH but will yield a lesser quality pet upon learning it - buyer beware!
Seeing how funky looking this creature is, I was very disappointed & surprised that it is only of uncommon quality. I did purchase it but from the AH listing, I thought it would be a blue because of the color of the name. Although upgrade stones can be used, I feel that something that is crafted (or comes from a profession) should always be of superior quality. It is cool that this moth looks totally different than any other moth in the game that I've encountered thus far.
=^..^=
They do seem to still be uncommon when learned, yes. Makes sense (despite the rarity), since they did say that all crafted pets should be uncommon now.
So are these still uncommon once learned? or Did they get fixed as well?
Just so you all know, using Spirits of Harmony to make your Imperial Silk will yield an Imperial Silk, not the cocoon and hence not either of the pets. One of my guildies spent a lot of Spirits before she realized the tooltip differentiated on that point.
i used a flawless battle stone on it

I am not sure if this is intended or a bug, but once learn it is a UNCOMMON pet, but the armory is listing the pet as a rare.
Now sure if this is like the sapphire cub which is rare from the recipe and can become another color once learn.
So beware if you are buying one that is not already learn. Recipe is blue but in my case it came out something else after in my journal.
Tailors have a chance whenever making Imperial Silk to get this or the Imperial Silkworm. So while they are produced by tailoring, there is no pattern to learn(aside from Imperial Silk and Song of Harmony) and you can't produce them on demand. The items are BoE, so after you get your personal pets, time to profit.
I found this pet in the Silk Cocoon that was created when I made windwool bolts into imperial silk along with the piece of imperial silk.
