Collecting this pet is one of the requirements for the achievement Raiding with Leashes.

An anubisath idol from the Temple of Ahn'qiraj, infused with ancient qiraji magic.
Not to be confused with his much less useful cousin 'American Idol'.
People are commenting saying they aren't raiders and paid unglodly amounts of money for Anubisath. Don't have to raid to get him, solo the instance if you're max level. Dropped third time through for me! Now I have to get the other two pets to drop lol
Dropped for me last night! He becomes very large with a pet biscuit. I named him Daniel Jackson! :D
My pet collection is my toolbox, and Idol is my hammer. He's not flashy. He doesn't have have game-breaking abilities. However, he gets the job done.
With high survivability and moderate damage, Idol fits perfectly in my capture teams and pet teams leveling teams. He can control a fight and can solo most wild teams if needed. Easily my most used pet. If you are just starting to collect, Idol is my #1 recommendation.
Mobot, I hope you are right. IMO this pet (along with the Unborn Valkyr) has ruined PvP - at least for me. On my server, at least 50% of my opponents have one on their team. I saw one team that had two Anubisaths and an Unborn Valk!
Why did I bother grinding up 109 pets to lv 25 if half the PvP battles are going to have one or both of these pets?
It's gotten to the point where, when I see one of these overpowered pets on the opposing team I just abort the fight. It's sooo boring fighting these same pets over and over. And it's such a drag having to set up all my PvP teams to guard against them.
Part of the problem is that AIs have gotten really cheap on the AH. You can get one now for about 1100g. So you don't have to put in any thought toward making a good PvP team any more, you just buy one or two of these, level 'em up, and you're ready to kick butt.
So I am all for nerfing both of these pets as I think they do harm to the game the way they are now.
Anubisath Idol, or Billy as I fondly refer to him, is a must have pet for so many of the trainer battles. His survivability in some fights can vary but he always does his job!
The one thing that freaks me out is when I see him at that water and food bowls in the menagerie. It just seems so wrong. There should be a little camp kitchen for our humanoid pets.
With some farming, a trade and a very lucky find on the AH I now have a team of three of these guys.
Named my first Bubba, in honour of the Bruce Campbell movie Bubba Hotep. The next two ended up as Cleatus, and Maynard.
They have been a pretty good PvP team so far.
People are gonna hate for this and I don't blame ya. I am fully aware of how the rng can screw ya. But today I ran my first solo at Temple and not only did I get an Anubisath Idol, I also got the Mini Mind Slayer as well. Can you say 'Stoked'? Was a good day.
Now lets talk about how long I have been camping that bloody irritating and completely non-existant Minfernal! Oh Well..
All the best to you campers and Pet Battlers...
Cheers
Has anyone noticed, that sandstorm doesnt work as intended after 6.1 patch. At least for me it doesn't reduce dmg by 74 as it should. Seems like sandstorm has any effect.
This pet only comes in 1 breed H/H. Remember this when you are deciding on any humanoid pet breed. Consider the humanoid racial ability. When you inflict damage on your enemy, regardless of how much, you recieve 4% of your MAXIMUM health to heal you at the end of your turn. Having more MAXIMUM health vs power or speed makes good sense. Use skill set CRUSH / STONESKIN / RUPTURE for battling most pets in the wild. Use SANDSTORM for team protection and weather change. DEFLECTION always goes first.
I ran this dungeon today to try to pick up the 3 pets inside. Unbelievably, all 3 dropped for me in one run. I am going out and buying a lottery ticket before this luck runs out.
This pet is the highest ranked in this website. It deserves it. It destroys almost all outdoor encounters, can take almost all trainers and holds its own in almost all situations. It is strong, with good defense and versatility.
It helps catching pets, it can carry pets. Basically it can do most things at least as good as most other pets. Get it. You will love it.
I agree...6.1 seems to have significantly weakened Anubisath... Very disappointing. :-(
In battles where I used sandstorm to avoid a stampede style, multiple attack, I've gone to the Emerald Proto-Whelp, with the Emerald Presence defense. It's really the only option until they fix sandstorm.
This pet is very good. I use him in most Pandaria Trainer/Elemental fights. It might be slow with his miss rate, but as long as he doesn't have a chain of 3 misses on crush you usually always win. Many of the fights he is still doing well after he kills the first 2 pets. On a good RNG on crush he can solo some trainer fights.
My One-set Strategies for Pandaren dailies:
Burning Spirit
-Against Crimson
(Sandstorm [1] on cooldown > spam Crush [2] > Reflective Shield [3] {on Lift-off})
-Against Pandaren Fire Spirit
(3 [before Conflagrate] > 1 on cooldown > spam 2)
-Against Glowey
(keep 1 up while leveling pet att. > spam 2)
Courageous Yon
• Leveling pet introduced while 1 is up during any stampede att.
-Against enemies
(keep 1 up / use 3 to evade Lift-off, Burrow / spam 2)
Anubisath Idol: solos all three of Aki the Chosen's legedaries and doesn't even break a sweat. Sandstorm makes Chirrup a joke. Between deflection and crush, Stormlash bites it. Whiskers can be a pain, but sandstorm can chunk his health and deflection avoids his dive attack.
I've found that Anubisath Idol (along with maybe my Nexus Whelpling) is my most powerful pet. Even though Crush has been nerfed to miss almost half of the time, it's almost irrelevant given how tanky this pet is.
Very powerful pet and easily my most used. My only complaint is the percentage ratio on the skills. One is 50% while the other is 80%. It just doesn't seem to me that the 80% skill lands any more often than the 50% one.
I believe this is in AQ 40. Twins fight.
Rare is the creature that can defeat a team of three of these sexy little guys. That's why my Wogen wrangles a litter of them at all times. I just rupture and sandstorm switch out & repeat, with a crush as needed. Most trainers & all world pets are toast. Some of the yellow paw creatures, dungeons & scenarios need specific pets or tactics but otherwise ...toast!
I can level 2 babies at a time to 25 with just "Larry" on my team. I named my boys Larry, Moe and Curly.
After taking around three years off from WoW I decided to return to collect battle pets and mounts. First run through of Ahn'Qiraj last night and I got him! I must say this thing is an absolute beast to use in fights!
