Patch 1.11.1 | Posted: April 1, 2007

This pet was a free gift for US attendees of BlizzCon 2005. A gift card may be scratched to reveal a code allowing a single character access to this pet. However, the item that teaches the pet's summon spell may be mailed to other characters on the account. The code may be redeemed at Blizzard's promotion retrieval page. The pet may be obtained in-game from Ransin Donner in Ironforge (alliance) or Zas'Tysh in Orgrimmar (horde).

This pet is also available as a FigurePets collectible (BlizzCon 2009).

To future owners! I almost messed up when I was scratching the surface where the numbers are under-MAKE SURE you scratch lightly, even though its under that rubber piece, since the cards going on being 5 years old, like mine was, I scratched a little to hard and almost was unable to read the number underneath! Something about the ink getting old + the stickyness pulling the ink up.
JUST BE GENTLE <3 and gratz!

Unfortunately Murky is almost impossible to find for sale now. Be *very* wary of anyone selling a code, as it is extremely rare, and the odds of it being a scam are rather higher than average. As always... if it's too good to be true, then it probably is. Be sure to read the description carefully on ebay, and look for someone with lots of sales (e.e.g, PowerSeller) and 100% feedback or close to it.

The cost of Murky on Ebay and other sale sites, is so high it excludes the average Joe or Jane from ever obtaining it. It seems unfair that unless you are rich enough to pay what a used car would cost for a VIRTUAL PET you never have the chance to get it. Hell, I love animals and would never pay what Murky cost for a REAL LIVE PET.

I got my Murky before BC came out as his card was one of the ways to get into beta testing. I paid very little for him compared to what he goes for now but he is still my favorite pet to this day. For those who missed out on him you can also go to the Forlorn Cavern in Ironforge and chill with the Murky there by the water. He will make the same baby murloc sounds if clicked and will eventually sing and dance Warner Bro. Frog style for you if you wait long enough =)

From what I have read about Murky, there were between 5500-6000 of the cards made, making him the absolute rarest pet in America. He was my holy grail of pets back in BC, and was well worth the price I had to pay for him on Ebay, being a lot cheaper than he's going for now.

I don't have Murky, but I've bought other codes off eBay and Amazon without any trouble. Check that the seller has a lot of sales and 100% positive feedback or close to that, such as a PowerSeller on eBay. Also, read the description carefully. (I would have Murky, but my husband thinks a few thousand dollars is too much for a World of Warcraft pet, go figure! ;O)

When my friend got me into this game, he did so by treating me to a trip to BlizzCon 2005. So I've had Murky since Day 1 that I've played.

Every time I see that 3K price tag for him, I realize how lucky I was.

I have Murky and they changed the sound he makes in 5.0.4 patch. Kinda sounds like a little kid gurgling I guess now instead of some thing aquatic gurgling. Like the old sound better. :(

April 25, 2018.

Murky Obtained.

It has been a very long pet collecting road for me and I finally got this rare gem. I had been stalking this pet on ebay for a few years now. A couple of sellers had a few. I would watch as their supply dwindled.

The week before there was only 1 left by a seller who had been on ebay for a few years. I lost that auction and I was heartbroken!!!

Reached out to another seller that I had seen have it up before...he had one left.....

Murky is my favorite. I love the dance he emotes and his super cute rmrrrgrrlrr when you click on it. Still level one for now!

If you go to Ironforge the go to The Forlon Cave the guy who unlocks the card is there and right next to him is Murky if you click on him he makes noises and sometimes he dances its a great sight but its not as good as having your own Murky but hey you get to see him so its still a nice chance to see the cute little guy - Alienn

(if you got the figure pet you should be glad)

Don't try to use the website on the card. Use the old loot card website. It will work. Promise. Mine did. 8/16/2015.

I just noticed a sudden change in the frequency of the animation on this pet today. It used to be about once every 45-60 minutes, now it seems to be more like every 20 minutes (approx of course, not regularly timed).

One day I'll own Murky. He's not on the top of my list. I'll need to do alot of overtime at work to buy him. My plan is to have him by Jan 2015.

To answer your question, YES you may still get Murkey on any newly created toons. My hubby and I went to blizzcon 2005 so we each got the little guy. You get an egg that you can mail to your other toons and learn him but the egg remains so you can mail it to all your toons and any newly created ones. Of course it has to stay on the same server. But it can be mailed to your horde and alli toons. It didn't used to be this way but they finally changed it so all toons on your account get him.

This is how rare this pet is now. This is why.

I got the pet at the end.

From an official transcript - GM:

"Greetings!

This is a follow-up to support ticket _________________________________________________ , in which an issue with a Murky code from BlizzCon 2005 was reported.

After investigating the issue thoroughly, we've taken steps to help make the code _________________________________________________ claimable! You're welcome to retest that at your convenience.

Please note that, due to how old the code is, there were some difficulties in the process.

In short, the codes were intended to be claimed right away, and were not necessarily intended to remain unused for a long period of time.

If the code is able to be claimed by you, fantastic, we'd be happy to see that. If the code is *not* able to be claimed, please note that we will regrettably not be able to offer further troubleshooting. We've actually exhausted our options here when it comes to making the code able to be used.
