Battle wise, this pet is great for leveling in Stranglethron vs birds and moths (any flyers really). It rips right through 'em! However, it doesn't take hits very well so if you pare it with a defensive pet it should make up for it.

Just wanted to say, that all who say the Lofty Libram will not spawn when the rats are up is full of it.    Been here 3 days.  EVERY time I see the books, there are also 3-4 tameable rats up.   First day spent hours clearing rats, and anything else able to be killed.  And saw 1 book, with a tameable rat right next to it.  2nd and 3rd days just sat there in air, and after a few hrs multiple Librams spawned during a 10-15 min period.   So this is a timed spawn.  So listen to whoever you wish.  =)    Good luck.

No glaring weaknesses, well rounded stats. Can go birdhunting or actually be quite powerful versus humanoids, which is a bit unusual for magic family.

Arcane explosion is not very strong but useful to remove shields or decoys.

Amplify Magic can be fun since it buffs the active pet, not just the Libram.

I do feel that it is a pretty weak pet all in all, no real true strengths. There are better birdhunters amongst the magic family and there are better humanslayers in other families.

If you ever run into the impossible scenario where you have a rare Lofty Libram AND a rare Snowshoe Hare in the same fight, hands down capture the Snowshoe Hare.  End of story!

I was grinding the rats for this unusal 'pet' for about five hours straight, then finally got bored and wandered off to capture some other rares I wanted to use in battles. After reading comments here I checked back later and picked the rare Lofty Libram at about 6:15am, and there was still a ton of books flying around when I left. So in short, maybe they swarm at dawn? I got a bunch of rares at this time, seems like a good time to go hunting... 

I circled and circled killing rats for about 20 mins, and did one logout, and killed a few more rats, and then one spawned, Common quality, but I have it!! it was in the little busted up buildings right next to the Dalaran Crater. ALSO! Got the acheivement for all classes of pets aquired! Nice. :D

Went back a day later while heading to other places to get ones I was missing, and there were 2 more spawned, and I got an Uncommon! Better than the Common one!

Went through a few farming sessions with this one (only about 30 min each because I was never the only one farming and thought it a moot point) then double checked the area randomly and found 3 of them at once.

There were some in the building rings and one in the crater itself, seems to be about timing for spawns, don't bother battling rats, this is a primary pet only in battles.

Please only tame one, as the stones let you get rares!!!

never saw one inside the crater, only surrounding the outside. finally got my own at 30.35 , 31.65 just outside walls by the water, had a frog as second. Was common quality but I was happy just to get one :D

Only thing difficult about these is finding a rare. Leave an alt there, check every so often you WILL get one. I have been camping for 3 days for a rare. Last night I was happy to find an uncommon lol. In my experience there have always been rats presents when I have seen the books spawn. Tonight I was the only person hunting, saw 12 books spawn (no rare, 3 uncommon) and several rats were present.

North-East area, just outside Dalaran bubble.

Can't confirm 'clearing' of other pets, as it was alreay there when I arrived.  But, 1 Libram, lots of rats.

As a side note, just south of the crater is a small field where you can play a plants and zombies like quest line, get past the final in the series for a Singing Sunflower battle pet

I MUST have one of these! Arcane Mage main, this is a perfect pet to have!!

Found at 7:30 pm on U.S Thunderhorn.

These spawn in and around the town part, some on the outskirts. I've not see one in the crater.

Killing the other critters and battle pets seems to make them spawn faster.

Only poor and common quality so far.

Found an uncommon at 28, 43. Very cute, shame it doesn't follow while flying though.

Spawned around midnight (MST) on Exodar. FINALLY. About 5 of them, none rare unfortunately.

It is Tuesday, at 7:34 am server time I seen the first one spawn on Dalaran server.  Been camping these all week with no luck till this morning.  I noticed that some take place of the rats, some have their own individual spawn points.  I got on about 7:30 server time.  Pet battled my 2nd rat and I get out of the battle and there is a libram right by me.  Hope this helps everyone!

Had luck ~9:30 AM on Dalaran on a Monday, found a few and noticed that they continued to re-spawn as I battled them.  No rares in about 15 battles but got 3 uncommons.

Camped killing rats for 3 days and decided after reading the comments here to check in the morning around 6 am (north american server Shalamar) and they were everywhere! I found a common, UC and a rare. Very nice!!!

This pet can really deal out some damage!.... but at what cost? After playing with Inner Vision I found that it only increases the Lofty Librams next attack... and not other pet's attacks that are going to happen. So using it with anything actually seems to defeat it's purpose. You might as well spend your time mashing one button then doubling the damage that you would have done anyways... Am I wrong here? A different option is to use Curse of Doom, Shadow shock 2 times and then Amplify M.
