Battle For Azeroth
Patch 8.1.0 | Posted: December 11, 2018
This pet can be crafted by using 3 parts dropped by Dookthar the Destroyer during the Battle Bots World Quest. Only the faction assault on Vol'dun must be active for the robot NPCs to be present. The WQ does not have to be active to loot the items for the pet.
Players must turn in salts to their faction's NPC that is powering up either the spider robot (A) or the gorilla robot (H). The two robots then need to sync up and be repaired at the same time before meeting in the middle of the bridge to engage in battle. The defeated robot will drop one of 3 items necessary to craft the pet. Players can loot only one BoP, unique item per invasion per character, which means players will need to loot the NPCs multiple times to collect all necessary pieces.
The Rebuilt Gorilla Bot requires:
Only Alliance players can loot these items from a defeated Dookthar.

The convenient part of robots that fight each other is that you can just put them back together. Step two is to attach a giant laser cannon to ensure you win the next battle.
The battle seems to be influenced by turning in Alkalescent Salts to the NPC charging your faction's bot. As long as you've completed the Battle Bots WQ at least once, you can keep turning in to give it 5 Energy per hand in.
Realm hopping can be quite handy here, especially if your faction is vastly outnumbered. Even if you see the bots back to being charged, be sure to check the bridge for a sparkly container; they tend to linger for about a minute.
Battle bots does not need to be up to get this pet, Today that WQ was not up in the assault and I was able to loot my final item to make this pet. Just need to come here in 3 seperate assaults and wait for your battle bot to win.
I did this invasion world quest on 5 alliance toons and received 3 different parts for the gorilla pet with 2 toons getting duplicate pieces. I then did it on a horde alt and received a part for the spider pet. It is likely that you need a character on either faction to get both pets.
Edit: It seems like the turn-ins are repeatable on this world quest. After you turn it in the first time you are able to go back and farm as much of the turn in material you want to increase the NPCs energy.
I came across both Dookthar the Destroyer and Arachni during the Alliance Assault on Vol'dun WQ 'Battle Bots'. They were being pitted against each other by faction engineer NPC's and duked it out on the bridge just southeast of Shatterstone Harbor.
After one beat the other (which seemed about 50/50 and most of the time bugged out) a container was left containing a single part out of 4 to construct one of the two Mech pets.
I was only able to loot his container once per character.
