Patch 6.0.1 | Posted: October 14, 2014
This pet was introduced in the 6.0 patch leading up to the release of the expansion, Warlords of Draenor.

Players must complete a quest chain in a revamped level 90+ portion of Blasted Lands, before returning to Stormwind or Orgrimmar to claim the pet.

The Iron Starlette is a pet-sized (and less deadly) version of a Kor'kron Iron Star, a large mechanical weapon used by engineers during the Garrosh Hellscream encounter in the Siege of Orgrimmar raid.

For those who don't see high level mobs in Blasted Lands, there's a dragon in human form just inside and to the right on a hill from Swamp of Sorrows. She will turn the zone from 55+ to 90 and back for you. :) (The level 90 mobs can drop the bronze drake)

Very powerful combination of Wind-Up + Supercharge. This trivializes any non-boss pet PvE can throw at you. This is also quite powerful in PvP, especially when combined with the speed buff from Powerball. Most of the time you don't actually have to waste a turn doing Supercharge. Doing Superchage also telegraphs what you intend to do and you can be juked(dodged or elemental/magic pet switched in). So you have to try and not be obvious, or if you opponent does not have any avoidance moves.

With Supercharge, Wind-Up, and Demolish, this pet has some huge damage output potential! The P/P breed sounds like the winner in terms of Demolish, but the H/P version will give a little more surviability, and provides a stronger Explode option. With the ability to boost it's own speed, breed such as P/S are less interesting to me.

As of the time I am writing this, the questline to get the iron starlette is still open. I just got it today.

Reading the comments now make me want to try an H/H but I have to say a P/P Iron Starlette is amazing beast killer that can do Supercharged Wind-ups of 2.6k against beasts and still have life left in her.  My 'Toni Stark' is one of my favorite 2 Mechanicals (of course I would find out my Starlette was a girl when I named her!)

Freaking LOVE this pet. I was "one shotting" lvl 25 pets as with my lvl 10 Iron Starlette, just in 3 moves! Wind up once, Super charge, Wind up again and BOOM! Definitely a powerful little wheel :)

This pet is amazing.  I whipped my first one (a P/B) up to 25 on the first day and would have loved to have seen my opponants faces when I flattened them on 3 moves. I've since got a P/P & another P/B on an alts and went battling with all 3.  It's risky taking 3 of the same thing, but I have yest to lose a battle and I've done over 20.

If you were one of the ones sitting there wondering what the hell had hit your poor pets, all I can say is 'Mwah ha ha'!!!

For anyone trying to obtain this pet Post-6.2, you CAN still get the pet. Lv. 90+ required. You'll need to either have completed the beginning phased sequence of Tanaan or not taken The Dark Portal questline at 90 yet.

For Horde & Alliance: Take the portal in your mage quarter to the Blasted Lands--not Hellfire. You'll be sent to a base camp. There should be quests available from a couple NPCs. Do all of them. Follow the questline until you receive the pet.

These are easy for a level 90+ character to get. It's a matter of completing a pre-WoD quest chain in Blasted Lands. Those quests won't be available if you have a certain version of "The Dark Portal" breadcrumb quest telling you to talk to Archmage Khadgar, but are available if you abandon it. (Another version that was added late doesn't affect things.) Characters who completed it then returned from Draenor can do the quests and get an Iron Starlette, too. AH prices should drop once people know.

I'm starting to wonder if H/H is extremely rare as well.  Just purchased 15 non-caged Iron Starlettes off AH and none of them were H/H.  I've yet to see one even available on the AH, on a high population server.

Don't get my wrong, I'm glad this pet exists. But I keep finding myself asking, "then why did Fluxfire Feline have to die?" because this is just as bad of a "problem" (well, clearly it's not a problem, so what was it about Fluxfire, hmm Blizz? Too easy to catch, yet so powerful? Can't have that, eh? Ugh). So yeah, cool pet, I'm glad it's in the game. I just don't know why this exists, yet Fluxfire was nerfed into the ground.

HELP! Is this pet still obtainable in Shadowlands, and how, on Alliance side?

Regards

EDIT: Found it! You start the quests in the Shattered Beachhead, Blasted Lands Alliance camp (where the flight master is). You would do 3-4 quests there, than be sent to another camp to the west, do 3-4 quests there, etc. Eventually leading to Report to the King in Stormwind.

Here is some of the quest chain i took (first and last Quests):

Attack of the Iron horde

Enohar's Revenge

Gar'mak Bladetwist

I have only used the Iron Starlette for the instant KO strategy (since I just have the P/P version), and I reckon this is one of if not the BEST instant KO pets out there. The Wind-Up, Supercharge, Wind-Up combo works so effectively and turns a difficult fight into a piece of cake. Toxic Smoke is a great filler too. I have not used other breeds but the moveset this has really does go for maximum damage so im happy with the P/P as if it dies early its likely not the right pet for that fight.

In my experience, the best allrounder is the H/P. Its Power is usually enough and it has a noticeable Health reserve compared to the other P breeds, which can make the difference for one more hit.

Though I suggest to also have a P/P and a P/S ready, for certain fights where the extra Power or Speed is crucial.

The H/H is mainly useful for the max. Explosion damage, but I found that for non-Explosion fights the missing Power can be an issue.

This battle pet is truly amazing! I am using my little Iron Starlette P/P to beat most Battle Pet World Quests in BfA. You can even solo a few of them with this pet. For example Bloodtusk can be one-shotted using: Wind-Up, Supercharge, Wind-Up.

I named my Iron Starlette Ragnarok, and for good reason. Any pet, ESPECIALLY Beast pets (when not classified as elite or otherwise unable to take more than a certain amount of damage per attack, such as Magic pets) can almost always be killed instantly with the Windup/Supercharge/Windup combo. This little devil quickly became an integral part of my pet arsenal for his sheer destructive power, and remains to be one of my favorite pets to use.

I just finished this quest chain on my level 115 character, 10/24/18 and received my Iron Starlette (H/P). Take the portal to Blasted Lands in Orgrimmar and Thrall should be right there when you arrive. He and another guy will have the quests you need to start the chain.

Iron Starlette is fantastic in a good half of the new bfa WQ battles. Regularly takes out 1.5+ of the enemy 3, makes all of the fights simple to win.
