Firefly

This pet is problematic. You see, you may find yourself killing the wrong fireflies. Be careful that the one which you are grinding actually drops it, and isn't one of the several other types of firefly in the swamp.

A good farming route for this pet is to move along the upper rim of Serpent Lake going east, starting just east of the Ogre settlements, ending at the Naga settlements, and then cycling back to the beginning. The respawn rate is decently high as well; if you take your time, you can literally constantly kill them.

It took nearly two years on and off (just my horrid luck), but I think this little peach is worth it. :3

Also, as of 3.2.2 it flies with you while mounted and keeps up even at high (310%) speeds.

This pet used to have the flavor text "Still flying..." when the pets were used as items, a quote which ironically comes from Firefly.

Sadly, now that pets are used a spells, the awesome quote is now gone.

I have such a love/hate relationship with this pet. He was just too cute not to get, but the grind about drove me nuts. 4047 kills until this guy finally dropped for me. Luckily the respawn on the bogflare needlers is pretty fast. By the time you get to the end, the ones at the beginning have already respawned. I didn't really have a lot of down time unless someone else was farming it too.

I love this little guy! :D It took me about 2 hours to farm - respawn rate is pretty good! So glad I put in the time!

I love this pet to death! it makes the most delicious buzzing noise ALL the time :D It's looks so cool too, and is a decent size.

Got this after a few hours the first time I looked for it. Noticed it sells for 4000+g on my server via "autioneer". So I sold it.

Now I have been grinding on them from lvl 60-66 on a different toon and it WILL NOT drop again.

Guess I shouldn't have sold it the first time!!!

The Bogflare Needlers drop Unidentifiable Plant Parts as well, which you can use to hand in for Cenarion Expedition for a RR quest. (However, that quest only lasts until Honored. Once Revered, you can no longer hand them in.) Sadly, you cannot skin them, unlike silithids.

Be aware this pet only drops from Bogflare Needlers behind Coilfang on the little islands, I spent hours farming the wrong mob so...

The only drop pet I got without intending to, he use to have the mention: "Still Flying" as a reference to a short lived sci-fi series.

This little guy dropped for me when I wasn't even looking for him. I was just having fun setting random creatures on fire (I love being a lock) and the firefly dropped! Before that, I didn't always loot everything I killed. After getting the firefly, i loot EVERYTHING.

Omg..i'm on the Khaz Modan server, and i just read about this pet here 15 minutes ago. I went to the spawn area, killed 6 mobs, and it dropped. I couldn't believe it. It took me 5 minutes. Im still freaked out. Beautiful pet.

I farmed the firefly today for about 30 min - no luck. Came back later in the day to farm again and was fortune to have it drop after about 5 minutes.

Got this little fellow today, He is so cool, totally worth the time it takes to get him :)

The 1 in 1500 drop rate is setting me up for the Hyacinth Macaw :)

I was getting so bored fishing for Mr. Pinchy and so I decided to take a break and go to Zangarmarsh and try my luck with the firefly and I got it after only 14 kills! It's good to take a break so if you get bored like me you can always switch between farming for the firefly and Mr. Pinchy :)

This took me about six hours of farming or so over a period of two days. I *love* it!

So.. I had just hit 70 and I was farming hardcore for epic flight money. And this little baby dropped not once, but twice for me, over the course of 3 days, (on the third day two dropped, consecutively...) And, my unintelligent behind, I sold one, and gave the other to a friend... moral of the story, don't give pets away until you already have one for yourself... *is currently farming for the 5th day of a new round of hunting with no luck*

I finally got this one after 1418 kills, but it is worth it. :)

I decided to try this pet after failing an entire weekend and 16+ hours on the hyacinth macaw (over 3k pirates killed).
I use bunny hunter to track my kills and time spent. So I spent over 3hrs, and 958 kills to get this pet. I firmly believe that farming a pet in one sitting has better odds then over time broken up, but thats hard to do with the macaw. Yeah cute consolation prize! Btw don't believe those ppl who post they get insanely lucky in 1-10 kills, its almost never gonna happen that way.

hehe got it today =). I spent ages a few months back trying to get it and eventually go sidetracked in the hectic life of 80s. Today I was just in the area and needed something to do while my raid group was filling up so I thought why not I'll give it a go. The 3rd kill dropped it! I was so excited and a little peeved, all that fruitless grinding so long ago and then it just casually drops in a quick little pass-by. Just a part of pet collecting =), the pets like to mock us I think XD.

Just got this little cutie pie after just 54 loots! from around serpant lakee to the left of the coilfang reservoir. Took me only 17 minutes, as the Bogflare needlers respawn very quickly.
This is officialy my new favourite pet as im so lucky to have found it so quick. Hope my boyfriend doesnt mind as he just brought me the pandaren monk for valentines day! =P

This is a special pet for me, it was the first one, i really farmed for. 3 days of wasp slaying.
