This pet was formerly known as 'Maine Coon'. Dalaran Spellscribe is often a better source when farming this pet, however it is a rare mob with three known spawn points, making it difficult to camp. As all Dalaran mobs are friendly to alliance characters, only horde characters can obtain this drop. Alliance characters may purchase this pet through a neutral auction house and on occasion through their own auction house.

If Stinker the skunk is nearby, he will fall in love with the Black Tabby and chase it around.

The Black Tabby and the Bombay are the two cats that Stinker will chase. When in close proximity, Stinker gets hearts over his head and will chase the cat quite far. Eventually the cat spurns his love and his heart breaks and both cat and skunk return to their owners. However Stinker's memory is short-lived, and he soon tries again... let us make beautiful music together.

The rare Dalaran Spellscribe is the best mob to farm for this pet. It's respawn is quick, about 6 or 7 hours, and you can run through the village where it spawns spamming a targetting macro to quickly see if it's there. It's not generally camped, so if you leave a char logged out in the area you can get several kills a day with minimal time invested.

Uhm, i experienced that it is farmed by many players. But if you want this pet and you show the "moneymaker-farmer" that you're a pet collector (like with a rar pet) in most of the cases they let you slay the dalarian.

The Dalarians in Silverpine havent made it to their city. Well, maybe the bad luck comes from the black cat?!

The drop rate dosen't seem to be too bad. When I had my hunter at it, I got 6 kills on the spellscribe before it dropped. I found it was often camped heavily but that's been a while ago so the money makers may have gone off elsewhere now. Still sells for tremendous amounts on Alli side as well, commonly see 2k or more.

Bought this on AH for 300g. If you can get it for cheap like that, then it's worth buying over farming it.

Easiest way to get this one: farm around the Dalaran crater instead of waiting for the spellscribe to spawn. Got it after 30 kills. Either I was lucky or not many people know about this on Winterhoof.

It is worthwhile creating a simple "/target Dalaran Spellscribe" macro. This enables you to see if he/she is there without entering the buildings.

Took awhile with farming the spellscribe; I probably got mine after 15ish kills. Don't give up if this is the method you choose, it will drop eventually.

I have been farming the spellscribe for the last week or so constantly, I seem to get a cat every 6-10 kills, and The earlist he has ever spawed was 3hrs 50 min. Most of his spawns seem to be every 4-6 hours give or take 10 min off either end. Most times seems to be closer to the 4 hour mark. I havent found him once beyond 6 hours, in what is now over 30 kills and 4 tabby cats. I thought I would share, as most people are reporting a 6-7 hour spawn time.

I was lucky i checked the first spawn point for the spelscribe and they were standing right there. They dropped it the first time, no need to farm for me.

I've killed the Dalaran Spellscribe 12 times in the last ten days and no black tabby! (9 Jewel-encrusted sashes, 6 Channeler's Staffs, and 2 Dalaran Wizard Robes but no cat.)

Camped Spellscribe for the past few days very infrequently checking. Killed one but no cat. Just finished valentine's boss for the day in SFK and decided to cruise thru Ambermill, found Spellscribe, killed him and cat dropped! Woohoo!

I just got the black tabby last night! It took about three weeks of occasionally checking on it.

I probably checked at least three or four time a day. The last thing I'd do every night was fly out to Silverpine and check and then I'd leave my toon there and check first thing in the morning.

I saw the Dalaran spellscribe over 15 times, and he/she mostly dropped the jewel encrusted sash.

But patience won out!

The spellscribe spawns in any of the three buildings inside the walled area.

Imagine my surprise when while just out questing with my hubby yesterday and this cute kitty dropped. We were working on Hillsbrad quest in the Dalaran crater area. I rushed to the mailbox when we were back in town so I could send it to my main toon.
