Giant Sewer Rat

This is the coolest pet evar because if you give it a cookie, it get as big as a gnome ^^ ! Should replace the mechano mounts by rats, and it got such a cute animation. Best way to lvl fishing imo.

Unlike Whiskers, the Giant Sewer Rat does NOT flip over and play dead. Also, it's pathing appears to be smaller (probably due to the larger size). However, a Giant Sewer Rat chasing after a druid in kitty form will often stop people in their tracks in Dalaran.

I remember the day I finally caught this I summoned him up and ran out of the room to show him off to Namraath. When we both got back into the room our cat was sitting in my chair eyeballing the screen. The cat had never payed attention to wow before that day, now shes constantly on the prowl for that mysterious polygon rat.

Got him in one fairly notable block of time which took a total of 2400 catches (hey someone has to even out the "zomg first catch!" people =P).

Since I play WoW windowed I just resized it down to half my screen width which achieved two things. Firstly it minimized the disheartening aspect of seeing people show up and 2 minutes later seeing them get the achievement and secondly because it allows you to run the media player/browser-based stream of your choice at the same time =)

Ah, the Giant Sewer Rat — how I learned that I can fish and do my job at the same time. ^.^

So you get the rat, give him a biscuit & then make yourself smaller. I like to use pygmy oil & become Z gnome (I'm a belf) & then eat a small feast.

Make sure your fishing level is as high as possible when farming this guy. That means +fishing hats, poles, lores, etc. The higher your probability for fishing up junk (grays), the lower your probability of fishing up our little friend here!

After buying Lil K.T. i waited around in dal sewers and let him kill the turtles around the rat.

Then i decide to go and try and fish for the rat, and on my 2nd cast he dropped.

So remember, the rat will always try and avenge his little turtles.

i got this lil guy while doing Jewel Of The Sewers and on my 6th cast he poped up along with Corroded Jewelry!!

I actually cried to my husband everytime I would fish for this thing and never got it. I had been trying to fish him up for almost 2 months. Even after getting the Kalu'ak fishing pole, +2 fishing enchant, some +100 fishing hooks, and a trusilver line that added +3 fishing...i still felt like i was never going to get it. Then one night I was crying to my husband about it while I was fishing and BOOM..the achievement flashes and i get the little guy in my inventory. Happiest day ever :D

Just got this pet tonight. Fished on and off for the past few days to try and get him and in total did no more than 2-3 hours fishing.

This was the pet that started me collecting, so it's very special for me. For those of you still hunting it I'll give you some advice I read on Thottbot.com. People there are saying if you have a underbelly rat targeted while fishing, the drop rate is vastly increased, to the point where people are geting it within 10 casts. I tried this approach and got it on the third cast, since I'm a scientist I can say that this points to a significant link between targeting a sewer rat and getting this pet

I finally fished this fellow up today! I had queued up for a random and got HoS which I hate so I left as always, fished once since I was fishing before queue and achievement popped along with the rare pet!

Learned it, summoned it and threw a pap hummel's biscuit on him. He's just about as big as me (blood elf)when mounted on my Sea Turtle! I love fishing :). Next up, Mr.Pinchy!

Considering I have owned several pet rats in real life and adore them, this was a must have pet for me. It is adorable and almost as high as I am when it stands, as I am a gnome :P But for anybody worried about the 1 in 1000 drop rate, fear no more! I got mine at around 800 drops. Not nearly as bad, hehe. Good luck to fellow rat lovers and pet collectors!

Everytime I see this pet I always think of the urban legend where a family takes in what they believe to be a small yet ugly dog. it isn't until they take it to the vet that they discover that it is actually a large rat.

I have been working on and off for this guy ever since I learned about his excisents (Sp.) and still nothing but I was wondering if their is an Add-on that tracks the cases and number of catches of an item and how soon it will be to this guy's catch?

Literally, I am going insane. Can someone tell me if there are parts of the Underbelly that do not yield a rat? I have been down there for multiple weeks... a few hours a day... and no luck. I got the acheivement 1000 fish a week ago and hadn't fished much before. That means I have gotten at least 1,500 fish. my luck. So yeah, do you know if there are specific parts that drop more?

Back when Wrath was relased, everyone was busy hitting 80, I spent the day in the sewers and got the rat! They aren't kidding when they say GIANT! Have a lock summon their imp and put your rat next to it, its bigger than the imp! Makes me wonder what those mages put in their water... I got mine by the black market, by the reagent vendor. I've also seen it drop by the inn in the underbelly. Now I gotta wash myself, I reek of sewers!

So I finally got this guy but not where expected! I was in the underbelly had over 1000 casts and no luck when I got frustrated and decided to go up top and work on the coin collector achievment at the founta and second cast achievment pops and I have my giant sewer rat! I was so suprised and excited I was in a pretty nasty mood at that point to be pleasantly suprised. So if you plan on doing the coin achievment I suggest doing that one first as you never know what you might get at the same time

I have put in more hours than I care to admit (over 4000 casts) trying to get this RAT! I even put in a ticket to see if I somehow deleted it or it was hidden under a stack of gems at the bank. GRRRRRRRRR> Back to the grind. BTW, if anyone needs any Sewer Carp, I can oblige.

At about 5200 casts, I saw it....the whisker/tail icon. At the same time, I disconnected. I hurried to log back in praying that the rat and achievement were waiting for me. Alas, no. I almost threw my laptop. Back at it.

I just got mine yesterday after a week of farming at the inn I love this pet he's very big Best place to farm is definitely at the inn

So I decided to make my first attempt for this pet. So I went to where the inn was and started casting. 45 casts later, there it was. I never expected to get this so fast. What made it even better, this pet was my 75th.

I've had a little bad luck with this pet, I did get him to drop, I had auto loot on and had that little message similar to Mr Pinchy asking if I was sure I wanted to loot it and accidentally hit my lure recast hotkey in my excitement. It took 3-4k castes to get him that time, and I am still yet to re-fish him up (I suspect I'm approaching 9k now). Thankfully it has since fixed that it doesn't come up with that message now. All I can say is keep trying with me! And pay attention to the loot box!

It took me a week of farming a couple of hours a day and about 1000 casts to get this guy. I spent the majority of my time at the inn and even worked on the coin quests at the fountain. Targeting the underbelly rat/monstrous underbelly rat makes no difference at all. He ended up dropping in front of the inn after I had already maxed my fishing skill and I was not currently using a lure or any other skill boosting tricks.
