Deviate Hatchling

For those wondering, the raptors are only located in the instance, in the very first area which makes it fairly easy for resets.

There are about 30 raptors in that one chamber, in case you want an easy way to estimate how many of the flippin' things you've had to kill to get the pet to drop. So far, no luck for me. Of the non-rarespawn raptors this may be the easiest one to farm, considering how low leveled the raptors are. With Cataclysm approaching, you may consider stepping on the gas for this guy too, as the Barrens appears to be getting a massive overhaul and WC might experience significant changes.

My strategy to farm this raptor:
Go into instance and just take the four corned path where first boss is and at every corner, kill EVERYTHING! Then, loot all, easier if have lots of bag space, and check if one drops. Then repeat as much as you want.

I did this 4 times and got 2 raptors. Hope this helps!

As Sateena said, "It tracks several of the rarer pets including whelplings, raptor hatchlings, crocolisks and more".

I was sending my level 80 through Wailing Caverns to collect greens for my boyfriends character to disenchant when I got this little guy. I found him quite quickly, I didn't even get to Lady Anacondria! I only took down about 10-30 raptors. I just got lucky.

This is an adorable match if you are a Hunter with the tamed adult version at your side with the Deviate Hatchling scambling at your feet. It's like you have the whole family with you!

Just got this little guy today. Took three trips through the raptor room of the instance. Very mellow farming. Made a few gold selling all the greys and greens. Save the 500g+ people are charging in AH and get this guy yourself.

Wanted this for my 80 hunter. Did what another poster said and just ran around the first section. Ran in and out about 8 times before I got the pet. Then I decided to get one for my friend (cause Im awsome like that). Took me two runs to get the second. Wonder how many times to get a third?

4 resets total for this pet.

I did over 30 runs to try and get this pet, but still no luck. I got so frustrated that i eventually just caved in and bought it on the AH.

I farmed around in WC killing the Deviate Ravagers while doing some quests. They aren't very hard to kill, but the companion isn't easy to get either. Just keep at it like with the other dinos, and you should get it within 1-2 hours tops if you do it right.

If you have to run out and reset Wailing Caverns, be warned that you can only reset it a certain number of times within one hour. I just did it 5 times I believe, and then got a yelow message saying, "You have entered too many instances today." I think it's just referring to Wailing Caverns though. Still, I have to wait about an hour to try again to farm for this little guy.

14 tries now, no luck. I think I know all the raptors by name by now!


Edit: Dropped for me on the 18th run. Perseverance! My first farmed pet, woot!

I only ran the instance twice before he dropped. This was a half hour after I had gotten my Darting Hatchling so I was elated. I've never had such good raptor luck!

I have been doing this for over six hours and it has not dropped once... this is sooo annoying

three runs. on the third run i got it on the first group i killed. i was excited to say the least. but i had the rest of the run to do, so i said eh, why not. my bf needed on anyway. so i kill the next mob and literally got my second. talk about awesome luck!

Went with my lvl 40 alt, got it on first run. One of the easiest pets to farm since the mobs are in one place and if you're done just reset instance. Moreover, it's a nice skinning opportunity. Go for it ;)

I just got this pet after resetting the dungeon 26 times! So don't give up! I love this pet because I had to EARN him! LOL.

I ran thru the instance 4 times. On the fourth try, the very first raptor you see when you enter ended up dropping it. So i'd say that was maybe around 90 kills.

I'm really happy I farmed this rather than buying it off the auction house. I was debating whether I should buy it for 1400 gold :( I'm happy I didn't!

On my fourth day of playing the game, in my second dungeon instance ever, I picked this up with absolutely no idea what it was. When we were going over the loot and I said "I have some kind of pet", my friend who had been in the party told me it was an ultra-rare drop and was jealous (even though her character was at least 30 levels above me.) He's so cute! There's no way I would have sold him even if I knew I could get 300 gold for him! Now I realize how lucky I was to get this drop.

I headed into Wailing caverns with no idea this pet even existed, it dropped on the SECOND kill! my brother then got one a few days later. Only the raptors in the first area of the instance drop it.

Got this guy the other day and he is awesome! XD

Just got mine!! Reached the first boss when it dropped. Now i'm gonna go back and get 2 more...one for my main the other for the AH.

I got lucky and got it on my second trip through the instance. Since I'm just starting back playing WoW, I'm thinking about farming another and selling it cause I'm poor :)
