Good luck hunting! This guy is definitely one of my favorite pets. And yeah, he's huuuge, almost the same size as me when I use a Noggenfogger. :D
Edit: this was back when you had to kill the Matriarch to get it.
This pet is part of the new special vanity pets tracking achievement which has been data mined from the 3.3 PTR
As Sateena said, "It tracks several of the rarer pets including whelplings, raptor hatchlings, crocolisks and more".
At this point: Try out to nightfarm! Listen to good music, install silverdragon, drink 2 or 3 Energy Drinks and start waiting/slaying. This works for every farmable pet =)
I would also ask that those who happen to kill a rare world raptor and are skinners to let the corpse rot. While seeing a dead one is disappointing it gives collectors an idea of when to start looking again.
I found the best way to farm this pet is to try after a server reset. The Ravasaur Matriarch seems to spawn about 11-14 hours after a reset, which gives you a much shorter window of camping time to worry about (much nicer to camp for a couple hours than half a day) :)
Hatchlings: Leaping, Darting, Razormaw, and Ravasaur Hatchlings no longer drop from their associated rare creatures. Instead, there are now rare nests that spawn which contain these hatchlings. For example, the Leaping Hatchling can now be found in Takk’s Nest rather than as a drop from Takk the Leaper.
I know most people do not like camping or farming around the spawn area to make it spawn faster,(killing around spawn really works) but be tenacious and farm, or kill, around the area while patiently waiting for the Ravasaur Matriarch to spawn. This method helped me get the Leaping Hatchling. Try your best!
66.5 67.0 is where she spawned for me
I watched this mob for about 3 mins, I can also confirm along with others that she does not move from the nest she spawns at.
Happy hunting.
Sunday, november 1. I was flying from Gadgetzan, to Cenarion Hold. During flight, I noticed a matriarch in Ungoro. I flew back from Silithus, and she was still there. I killed her.
Guess too many ppl was busy doing Day of the Dead, Strangletorn Fishing or doing things IRL, so I had her for myself for several minutes, no farmers or robots there.
