Razormaw Hatchling

The mama raptor has exactly 3 spawn points. I've farmed this raptor plenty of times for myself and others. So, I know just where they are.

1. On top of the pedestal in the middle.

2. In the back of the cave, almost just behind the wall that's to the back of the pedestal.

3. And, at the foot of the entrance into the deep part of the cave, just a few feet before you reach the water that leads to the pedestal in the middle.

Find a good spot, be sure to use a target macro and you're golden.

The best place to camp a character for this pet is in the center part of the cave, just on the edge of the small ledge leading toward the pedestal area. in that area, you will be in range of all three spawn points, although the back one may patrol out of range.

Try placing a lower level toon there that you don't plan on leveling for a while. Obviously the toon should be high level enough to take on the raptors in the cave. A new Death Knight is perfect to place there. Create a macro that targets the rare (optional) and attacks it. For example, /target Razormaw Matriarch. Log onto that toon every couple of hours just to check if the momma is there. My DK has killed the rare 3 times with little effort. I always give my extra pets to other collectors :)

This pet is part of the new special vanity pets tracking achievement which has been data mined from the 3.3 PTR
As Sateena said, "It tracks several of the rarer pets including whelplings, raptor hatchlings, crocolisks and more".

I was having a really bad day (or well most the week was horrible) a few weeks ago. Then I found this cutie in my mail box. My guildie had sent it to me and when I thanked him he said he thought I needed cheering up :) He really managed on that!

Found and killed at 10/7 1:52 am server time on Hellscream just as she spawned. Hope this helps those of you that share my realm get one of your own.

I would also ask that those who happen to kill a rare world raptor and are skinners to let the corpse rot. While seeing a dead one is disappointing it gives collectors an idea of when to start looking again.

Got her at 7:14am on Medivh. Dont know what time she spawned, I had logged on to check, hadnt seen her in the room with the ledge, so ran around looking for chests. I actually ran right past her (in the room on the west side with the puddle in the middle of the floor where a chest spawns) before my brain registered the color of her hide and yelled "hold up!", then SilverDragon (a rare-npc addon from curse) popped up (after I saw her lol) I was like "W00T!" Turned around and got her.

I have just been hunting raptors for a couple of hours now only 2 actually and have got the darting and leaping hatchling,now workin on the razormaw. for all u collectors out there like me azuremyst is a great server for the hatclings there almost always there when u go just lettin ya guys know ty- Bingles

3.3 Patch notes

Hatchlings: Leaping, Darting, Razormaw, and Ravasaur Hatchlings no longer drop from their associated rare creatures. Instead, there are now rare nests that spawn which contain these hatchlings. For example, the Leaping Hatchling can now be found in Takk’s Nest rather than as a drop from Takk the Leaper.

*sigh* this little guy's quite elusive....as momma razormaw's alwayse out pillaging the poor dwarves of menethil harbor, or just getting herself killed by the mean horde who just love stealing her children.

Having camped this for several days (getting for myself, 2 friends and yes, one to sell) I've found her to be reliably at the end of the 5-8 hour spectrum - to the point where she's almost over 8 hours. Don't know if this is just chance, but if you're checking regularly from the 5 hour mark onwards, don't give up because you haven't got her at 7hrs50mins!

Killed the Razormaw Matriarch on 11-15 at 2:54pm on Feathermoon(US). She spawned down at the end of the ramp from the pedastool in the center of the cave. Thought I saw her with track beasts so I tore down into the hallway killing every raptor, not noticing that I had killed her and kept running *laughs*. Love the pet!

this and Leaping hatchling has made me RICH lol i farm both everyday

I just got this pet at 1:45 pm EST. The Matriarch was in the center pedestal(with the water sorrounding it). Word of caution if you pull her without clearing the surrounding raptors, she will aggro a number of addtional ones. I believe there were 5 adds that came with her when I pulled her. :)

Easy for hunters to see if she's there. Just turn on Track Beasts and mouse over the dots.
That's what I did and as soon as I saw her, I ran in heedless of the other raptors in the vicinity, killed her, and looted her, letting my spirit beast Skoll take care of the other raptors attempting to defend her, futile though it may have been in the face of my determination.

This must be my lucky day. :) First I got the pet from Dustwallow Marsh and now that one. Again SilverDragon addon occurred handy cos' it flashed red and gave the option to target her when I got close enough to be in range. She was at the back of the cave. Very easy and great reward. :)

I just got mine 10:24 pm realm time. i am on nesingwary. she was in the center of the cave ( smaller area to the left.)i feel i was lucky to have found her. GOOD luck to all.

I forgot about the new changes to finding these little guys, until after I killed Dart and said, "Where the heck is it?!" Thus begins my quest in finding out more about said nests. I did eventually found one, Takk's nest. So for those not in the known here's a quickie about them; These nests can't be "targeted". Your pointer turns into a action cog, when you move it over the nest. So spamming /target macros while running around won't help. What they look like is a few eggs inside a grass bed. GL

I looted mine today on the left side of the cave, on the far side of the small 'pool' (approx 67,30). The nest was between the water and the two raised pilars you have to walk between to get to the back of the cave on that side. Found it again two days ago on opposite side of the cave. Obviously spawns in multiple places.

Ah the irony as I now try and get this pet and am running around the cave looking for the cave i find the matriarch and no egg! ah the irony why WHY!


ps now i found this guys nest well searching for the red dragon welpling. I'll look for more so i can sell on AH for more gold.

i looked where alonzo mentioned and saw nothing. so i figured i'd venture a little further in and got it up on a little, i dunno what you'd call it, hill/ledge thing, surrounded by water.

i found this guy in the nest at 10:43 at coords 69, 31 in the cave on a little ledge surounded by water

My first run through the cave and the rare elite was standing in the open. Killed her, but sadly, no raptor. Figured I'd clear the rest of the cave just to be sure. Sure enough, just around the corner... the nest! Got my hatchling, and finally that darn Stinker!

OMG i killed it and no raptor! /cry

Where in the tarnation is the nest? I've been in that cave and killed the Razormaw Matriarch numerous times but have yet to find the nest. /sigh
