Scorchling

I really wish this pets droprate would get changed. It's arguably one of the rarest pets simply because it's only available for a small while each year, based upon summons and drop chance.

I had hoped that it might get the same treatment as the squashling but unless it gets it's only non-FoS achievement, it will probably be the same irritating way to get this that it always is. If you have this one, count yourself lucky!

You may defeat Lord Ahune once per day on heroic mode, and once a day from the regular slave pens daily you get from the npc right before the Ice Stone.
Heroic mode allows for a retry if you fail over and over until you down Lord Ahune (gives you a badge on heroic, so it saves you to the instance for a that day).
But on regular, once you get the daily and turn it in; if you fail to kill Lorn Ahune-you lose the chance for The Scortchling, until daily's reset. (or unless you have more people) GL!!

This pet is basically a litmus test for how friendly and cool your guild is. I finally got this on the last day of the Midsummer festival in 2009, and boy was it a great feeling! I was able to get anywhere from 2-15 (yes, fifteen) summons a day from guild-mates and friends. I encourage anyone who wants this pet to pester everyone in guild chat, guilt trip your friends and do everything you can to get as many attempts as possible on Ahune. I was at over 100 attempts when he finally dropped.

This pet was freakishly difficult to get. I ended up having to use a bargaining tactic with the rest of the group. . .I paid them each 100g to pass on the pet when it dropped. Considering that one time was the first and last time I ever saw the scorchling drop, I think the 400g was well worth it!

It took quite a few tries to get this pet, but it was so worth it as a shammy! I love to pop him out while my fire elemental is kicking butt so he can learn a thing or two for when he grows up! :p

Yeah he is rare to find. I was able to get him on the fifth day of the event and I spent about 50g for the summon and 100g for the pet. When it drop, one of the member of my party went woot 150g for a summon and a pet. 600g was a good price for this pet.

I REALLY hope they change the pet tracking achievement that was found on the PTR to not include this one. Every other pet listed are all pets you can farm year-round for except the scorchling. Maybe I'm just being a big baby about it because I farmed religiously during midsummer the past two years and not once even seen it drop >_< lol.

This pet has a cool reaction if you have him out when you summon Ahune. When I did it, the words it made me say, my scorchling repeated. It was pretty cool!

He dropped on the last summons on the last day of the festival for me. I wasn't even going to go! Good thing I changed my mind.

Please leave this out of 3.3 achievement - its the coolest pet, but you can not collect it! Only get lucky or be lucky to be in a very friendly guild. Do not put a roadblock out for all serious collectors who don't have an imba friendly guild.
This year it was impossible to even get a group on my server. I was whispering in all channels and simply sitting outside the instance for hours a day. I maybe got 2-3 summons in total.

Got him on the first summon on the first day of the fire festival this year. Only time i've ever seen it drop. So happy that I got it.

A very very rare pet, in the 70's Ahune was a difficult boss because few higher end players bothered to farm him.
Now at 80 even though much easier to farm very few people were willing to group up during the summer to kill him which keeps this pet obnoxiously rare compared to other event pets..
