Leaping Hatchling

He is also one of the easiest of the rare raptors to get for Hordies -- he's just outside Orgrimmar's back door and has a slightly shorter spawn timer than the others. :)

Definately one of my favourite hatchlings due to its "leap" animation which often see's it whistling past your ear when running from place to place. (If you forget you've got him out this can take you by surprise... I have often been seen rushing around Dalaran screaming "get it out of my hair!")

On my server The best times i have actually found Takk (which is about 5 or 6 times now) is usally at or aound 6 in the morning. Server: Zuluhed

Was able to find this fellow the day the patch dropped on my Alliance alt. (My pet collector, of course.) Takk has been hard to find on my server since unless you count corpses. The thing about this one that amuses me most is his little shriek noise he makes just as he realizes he needs to leap back to 'mommy' (or daddy!)

This pet is part of the new special vanity pets tracking achievement which has been data mined from the 3.3 PTR
As Sateena said, "It tracks several of the rarer pets including whelplings, raptor hatchlings, crocolisks and more".

This little beauty is definitely one of the more lively pets, and also has some separation issues... Stairs? Who needs them? Stairs happen to other pets. No, he'll just leap straight off the balcony and be right at your feet before you can so much as blink.

I suppose the heart attack you just got from seeing your little baby dive off a ledge is what you get for being a bad example and showing him that it's okay to cut corners by jumping off of high objects, you bad parent you.

I swear the rare raptors come back faster if you kill the mobs in the spawn area. I've had particularly good luck with Takk and Dart. Plus it gives you something to do while you wait, especially if you're a skinner.

I'll corroborate Doppleganger's comment - killing the planestriders in the area as well as the Raptors certainly seemed to make Tak respawn oddly quickly - or I just got absurdly lucky.

3.3 Patch notes

Hatchlings: Leaping, Darting, Razormaw, and Ravasaur Hatchlings no longer drop from their associated rare creatures. Instead, there are now rare nests that spawn which contain these hatchlings. For example, the Leaping Hatchling can now be found in Takk’s Nest rather than as a drop from Takk the Leaper.

Finally got the little guy after 4 hours (2 hours yesterday and 2 today) by killing the dinos and plainstriders around Takk's spawn area in northeastern Barrens near the Sludge Fen. To go with this little guy, I went to WC and tamed a Deviate Stalker to compliment this cuties complection. They both go together like a lone father and his son. Good luck killing Takk!

Takk the Leaper was the first rare spawn I ever came across in the game. I was so excited I found one, I took a million and a half screencaps of him before ending his silver-circled life. That being said, this is instantly my favorite pet in the game. Not only is he easy to collect (every one of my toons has one) but the leaping animation makes it cooler than it's raptor brethren.

I'm pretty sure the rumor is false that clearing the area causes Takk to respawn more quickly. Could anyone who posted previously that it does please specify how long it was after Takk's previous kill that he respawned? ("He just appeared after I killed everything" is going to be true for some percentage of the people who try, no matter how long the respawn is. You have to know when he was last killed to know if killing things caused an abnormally short respawn.)

I got this pet in the morning. I woke up at 7 CST on a Sunday and lucky me when I got there, silverdragon notified me. That is probably the best way to get these pets, If you are on the west coast, stay up, and east coast, wake up early.

I got him today, and my goodness, he is adorable! I think I'll go look for more to sell on the AH.

Got him on my first try. I know it won't be so easy next one I go for lol. He's so cute!

I forgot about the new changes to finding these little guys, until after I killed Dart and said, "Where the heck is it?!" Thus begins my quest in finding out more about said nests. I did eventually found one, Takk's nest. So for those not in the known here's a quickie about them; These nests can't be "targeted". Your pointer turns into a action cog, when you move it over the nest. So spamming /target macros while running around won't help. What they look like is a few eggs inside a grass bed. GL

again, luck was on my side, got this little fella when he still dropped from Tekk :-) found him after about an hour of waiting and killing things just when i was about to give up for that day....so to everyone, never give up, you dont wanna miss this one :-)

the nest is located at 60,10. I was prepaired for a long camping session when after maybe 15 minutes or so, it appeared. This is obviously post 3.3.0 patch. Hope this helps anyone looking for it.

got 2 of these things pretty quickly over the course of 1 day on the server Borean Tundra the place where i have found the nest to spawn the most is under the big tree in the clear at 60, 10

Got my little leaper today. C: I went out at 6:50 am on the scryers server and there was no sign of Takk or any other players, but the nest was there.

Might go back in a few hours to try and snag another for my husband.

As of 3.3 this and the other ones that drop from rare NPC no longer do, you find them from rare nest near them.

Other than the vendor sold pets, this was the easiest to get. I literally found the nest after less than a minute of searching. I love him!

Got him at 58,7. I cleared the surrounding raptors and striders only a few times, ran around farming org rep with quests for about 15mins and came back and there it was.
